Day 2 of 33 — three in the morning for the three days, three at night for the three nights.
Morning — My Help Comes from the LORD
Begin with the Breath of Life, then three movements to wake the body: two gentle ones from the Awakening Series (in bed, seated, or holding a chair) and one from the Deepening Series for those who are able. Use the modification you need.
The Breath of Life
Genesis 2:7 (NLT)
“Then the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.”
Every morning on this path begins the way human life began — with the breath of God. Before you move, breathe. Receive this day’s breath as His gift.
AWAKENING BREATH “First Breath of the Day”
MOVEMENT:
- Lie in bed or sit comfortably
- Place one hand on your chest, one on your belly
- Take a slow, deep breath in through your nose for 4 counts (feel your belly rise)
- Hold for 2 counts
- Exhale slowly through your mouth for 6 counts
- Repeat 10 times
MODIFICATIONS:
- Bed-Bound: As described
- Seated: Same movement while sitting
- Standing: Same movement while standing
- Breathing Difficulty: Use shorter counts (3-2-4)
Able to stand? Use the standing version instead:
DYNAMIC AWAKENING BREATH “Breath with Movement”
MOVEMENT:
- Stand with feet hip-width apart
- As you inhale (4 counts), raise both arms overhead
- Hold breath at top (2 counts), reaching tall
- As you exhale (6 counts), lower arms slowly to sides
- Repeat 15 times
✧ ✧ ✧ ✧ ✧ ✧
SCRIPTURE:
“I look up to the mountains—does my help come from there? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth!” — Psalm 121:1-2 (NLT)
✧ ✧ ✧ ✧ ✧ ✧
Exercise 1 of 3 — from the Awakening Series, Morning Exercise #26
1. CALF RAISES (SEATED) “Lower Leg Strength”
MOVEMENT:
- Sit on edge of bed or in chair, feet flat on floor
- Lift both heels off the ground, rising onto your toes
- Hold for 3 seconds
- Lower heels back down
- Repeat 15 times
MODIFICATIONS:
- Bed-Bound: Lie on back, point and flex toes
- Seated: As described
- Standing: Hold chair for balance, rise on toes
- Limited Mobility: Lift heels only slightly
✧ ✧ ✧ ✧ ✧ ✧
MEDITATION:
Your help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. As you moved this morning, you lifted what you could—your arms, your breath, your attention—upward. That is the posture of this verse. Looking up. Reaching up. Before the day asks anything of you, you have already turned your face toward the One who helps. God is your help. Every gentle movement is cooperation—your small effort meeting His great strength. You do not start this day looking to the mountains. You start it looking to Him.

Exercise 2 of 3 — from the Deepening Series, Morning Exercise #3
2. SQUATS (BODYWEIGHT) “Building Foundation”
MOVEMENT:
- Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, toes slightly out
- Extend arms in front for balance
- Lower hips back and down as if sitting in a chair
- Keep chest up, knees tracking over toes
- Lower until thighs are parallel to ground (or as low as comfortable)
- Push through heels to stand back up
- Complete 15 repetitions, rest, repeat for 3 sets
MODIFICATIONS:
- Easier: Squat only partway down, use chair for support
- Harder: Hold light weights, pause at bottom for 3 seconds
- Knee Pain: Reduce depth of squat
✧ ✧ ✧ ✧ ✧ ✧
ENCOURAGEMENT:
Look up. Reach up. Your help comes from the LORD. He is giving you the strength to rise today. Keep looking to Him.

Exercise 3 of 3 — from the Awakening Series, Morning Exercise #23
3. ARM CROSS-OVERS “Chest and Shoulder Stretch”
MOVEMENT:
- Lie on your back or sit upright

Evening — Return to Rest
Three movements to release the day and prepare for rest: one stretch from the Deepening Series for those who are able, then two gentle ones, ending in stillness. Use the modification you need.

“Let my soul be at rest again, for the LORD has been good to me.” — Psalm 116:7 (NLT)

- Repeat 2 times per side
MODIFICATIONS:

- Harder: Deepen side bend, reach farther over
- Limited Flexibility: Keep reach smaller
✧ ✧ ✧ ✧ ✧ ✧
MEDITATION:
As you released tonight, you let go—softening, releasing effort, giving up control. Let my soul be at rest again. The LORD has been good to me. You are returning—coming back to rest after a full day. God has been bountiful today. Your body did its work. You moved, and then you let it go. Now lay the day down. Return to rest.
