Three in the Morning, Three at Night
A gentle 33-day way into The 33/66 Movement
Opening Prayer
Father, You numbered the days of Your Son on this earth — thirty-three years — and You numbered His days and nights in the grave. Nothing You do is careless, and nothing You count is wasted. As I begin this path, teach me to number my days too. Meet me in the small beginnings: three movements in the morning, three at night. Where my body is weak, be my strength. Where my heart is tired, be my rest. Let every stretch become a prayer and every breath become thanksgiving. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Three Days and Three Nights
Matthew 12:40 (ESV)
“For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”
The 33/66 Movement was built on two numbers: 33, for the years Christ lived among us, and 66, for the books of the Bible. Each series holds 33 morning exercises and 33 evening exercises — 66 a day. Across the Awakening and Deepening Series, that is 132 exercises.
For many people, especially those just starting out, 66 exercises a day is a mountain. I know that. So I have laid out a gentler path — one that keeps every number intact, and still takes you through every one of the 132 exercises.
Every session on this path is built on three exercises: three in the morning and three in the evening. That number is not random. When the religious leaders demanded a sign, Jesus gave them exactly one — three days and three nights — and He kept it exactly as He said it. Not a figure of speech. Not an approximation. Each morning’s three movements remember the three days. Each evening’s three remember the three nights.
Over 33 days — one for each year of His life on earth — you will work through all 132 exercises. Some you will do twice, to build a firm foundation. Start small. Be faithful. Let the body follow where the Spirit leads.
Zechariah 4:10 (NLT)
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin.”
How Each Day Works
- Everything is on one page. Each day has its own page with every exercise written out in full — movement and modifications — and no flipping back and forth.
- Scripture woven through every session. Each morning and evening opens with Scripture, then moves through the three exercises with a meditation after the first, an encouragement after the second, and a closing prayer after the third — 66 devotions in all, one for every book of the Bible.
- Every morning begins with the Breath of Life — God breathed into Adam and he became a living person (Genesis 2:7). Before you move, breathe.
- Morning — waking the body: three morning exercises — two gentle ones from the Awakening Series and one from the Deepening Series for those who are able.
- Evening — releasing the day: three evening exercises — one stretch from the Deepening Series, then two gentle ones, ending in stillness and rest.
- If you can only manage the morning, do the morning. That is still honoring the 33. Grace over perfection.
How the Numbers Work
- 33 days: the Breath of Life plus 3 exercises each morning, and 3 exercises each evening
- Every exercise is placed at the time of day it was written for — morning exercises in the morning, evening exercises at night
- The Deepening morning exercises come one a day, in order, growing in difficulty as the days go on
- Over the 33 days you will do every one of the 132 exercises at least once, and many of them twice
When the 33 Days Are Done
Psalm 90:12 (ESV)
“So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.”
- Stage 1: the morning Chair Set only — for those just beginning or physically limited
- Stage 2: the full 33-Day Path — morning and evening
- Stage 3: a full series — 33 exercises in the morning and 33 at night
- Repeat any stage for another 33 days before moving up. Staying longer is not failure — it is wisdom.
A Word of Caution
- Please consult your doctor before beginning any exercise program.
- If an exercise causes pain, reduce the movement until it doesn’t — or skip it.
- Some Deepening exercises are demanding. If one is beyond you tonight, use its modifications or repeat one of the morning’s exercises instead.

Reflection Questions
- What has kept you from starting until now — the size of the program, your body’s limits, or something deeper?
- Jesus kept His word — three days and three nights — to the letter. Where in your life do you need to trust that God will keep His word to you?
- Of each day’s six exercises, which one spoke to you most — in your body or through its Scripture — and why?
Closing Prayer
Lord, thank You that You do not ask me to climb the whole mountain today — only to take the next step. For the next thirty-three days, meet me every morning and every night. Where I am stiff, loosen me. Where I am weak, strengthen me. Where I am weary, give me rest. And when these thirty-three days are done, let me find that You were with me in every one of them. In Jesus’ name, amen.
